Triple Crown Sports is thrilled to announce the return of softball to the Lone Star State. More than 120 teams will lace up their cleats for the Texas State Championships on June 15-17 in Plano and Allen.
The five-game guaranteed format features four pool play games, feeding into a single-elimination bracket. Among those returning the talented group of teams in 2020 includes 2019 16u champion ScrapYard Internationals. Also featured in this week’s field are some of the most talented clubs in the region, featuring Texas Glory, Diamond Fury, Glory Adkins, Illusions Gold, the Texas Bombers, Aces Express, Impact Gold, Texas Blaze as well as teams representing Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Washington. “We are extremely glad to be hosting the Texas State Championships here in Texas after all these months of waiting for the opportunity,” said Triple Crown Fastpitch event director Jonathan Lampl. “We welcome the 130 teams from the region and the USA and look forward to three days of great competition with some of the highest-ranked teams in the USA Softball Rankings. Thanks to all of the teams for attending!” This week’s event also marks the first of 16 stops on the newly-formed Texas Fastpitch League. Allowing all teams to compete on the same level, the statewide league is divided into three conferences. Teams earn points based on their finishes, all leading to a season-ending championship. In conjunction with Sports UAC (United Against COVID), Triple Crown Sports has worked diligently to create a set of protocols to ensure the safety of athletes, coaches and fans. The guidelines have been vetted by other governing bodies, municipalities, event managers, public health sectors, coaches and more. In addition to these new rules, TCS is also following strict CDC recommendations. The Texas State Championships is the first of several stellar tournaments planned in the region this summer. The 4th of July tournament, slated for July 1-7, will take part in Houston. The Southwest Summer Nationals, split between Austin and Houston, is scheduled for July 16-19.
